Michael A. Irwin, age 69, passed away in Oklahoma City, OK on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025. Born in the Putney Borough of London, England, on December 24th, 1955 to parents Joseph and Beryl Irwin. His adventurous personality led him to live in many countries throughout his life including Germany, Norway, The Netherlands, France, and finally America. While he was British and Irish by birth, he was “American by choice.” He was educated at Queen Mary University of London, earned his Bachelors of Science in Electronics and was never shy to share his intelligence with the world. In June 1997, he and his first wife, Karen, welcomed Nicholas into the world. In December 2007 he married Carmell, gaining not only a wife, but a daughter and eventually a granddaughter. Mike had many interests including music of all types (particularly Progressive Rock with artists like Marillion and Fish), talking to people, programming computers and databases, languages (both human and computer), travel, cats, the Liverpool Football Club, and cooking. He has written code that is orbiting the earth on satellites, he cherished his time working as a rocket scientist for the European Space Agency, and worked at many other places, including Microsoft. He had the most incredible ability to connect with everybody, and he took great pride in helping so many people solve their computer and database issues. He is predeceased by his parents and other loved ones in England and Ireland. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carmell; children Nicholas and Mauri; grandchild, Mauri; cousins, Charles and Edward; first wife, Karen; and many friends made across the Digital Divide.
Services will be held for Mike on Saturday, July 26th at 12 pm Central time at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5020 NW 63rd St Oklahoma City, OK 73122 United States.
